I am very excited to be at Gateway. This is my sixth year in education. I began my journey as an ISS Aide at Bonham Middle School in Temple, Texas in 2015 before moving to Jarrell Middle School in 2016 to teach 8th grade US History and coach.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. After graduation, I enlisted in the United States Army with the military occupational speciality (MOS) of 46R, military broadcast journalist. For twelve years, I had the honor of telling the Army's story from locations in Iraq, to Mongolia, to Haiti, reaching an audience of more than 4.5 million people.
I retired from the Army in 2012 and enrolled in the post-baccalaureate program at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Temple, where I earned my 7-12 History certification. I also earned my certification in English as a Second Language. I am currently working on my Master's Degree in American History and Government from Ashland University.
When not in school I enjoy traveling around the United States and the world. I am an unabashed pop culture fan and wear my geek label with pride. I am also a huge sports fan and closely follow my beloved New York Giants and Yankees. I live with my husband of 23 years and our six, way too adventurous for their own good, girl cats in Killeen.
